Obama stalking horse and elitist Jon Houseman has dropped out.

The guy never had a chance and came off as an elitist phony with his spouting Mandarin during the debates as if his being able to speak Chinese made him somehow " superior " to the other candidates.

I never believed him to be a true Conservative and feel that the only reason he was in the race was to draw off support for Conservatives like Bachmann, Cain, Sanctorum, and Ginrich.

I've never trusted a man who said that O'buma was doing a great job as President yet sought the job himself.

Good riddance to a phony Conservative.

There was one thing good about Huntsman.

He has a hot looking wife and that's about all.

When will Mitt Romney learn to answer questions with a straight answer ? ..

Every time Mitt Romney talks in a debate I'm reminded of a weasel. The man seems incapable ( even more than most politicians ) of giving a simple " YES " or " NO " answer to a simple question.

Last night's debate showed how unprepared Mitt is to be President.

Rick Santorum asked Mitt whether or not he felt convicted felons should be allowed to vote.

Mitt couldn't give a direct answer.

When Mitt was asked to produce HIS tax returns, he said he'd release them in April.

It came off as being evasive.

What * I * wish all of these candidates would do is STOP telling us about their records and tell us how they'd deal with Obama in a debate and what they would do in a constructive manner to heal our economy and get people back to work.

Like Jon Huntsman, Mitt Romney always comes off as a phony who can't answer a simple question.

If he can't handle it now, how is he going to handle Obama or if he does become the nominee and President, how is he going to handle people who will confront him with far more serious issues in the future ?

Romney needs to deal with questions and answer them directly.

If he can't do it now, when ?

Rush Limbaugh's Two If By Tea ...

I ordered a case of Rush Limbaugh's Two If By Tea.

I liked it but didn't like the taste of the black tea as it was too bitter and had to put splenda in it.

But given that, before I knew it, I had drank the whole case.

Maybe Rush can sell it by the gallon or as an instant tea.

I'm saving the bottles so I can make instant tea and put it in Rush bottles to take with me.

I like the stuff and will order it again.

One of the things I really HATE is calling companies ( like Lexmark ) that outsource their customer service to India or the Philipines.

Generally, they DON'T understand English or are incapable of understanding simple English that would be understood by ANY American on the phone,

I recently received an application for a credit card from them & applied online.

Their website tells customers that you'll get your new card in a week, but when you call their customer service department they tell you that your card will come in 3 weeks.

I tried to call them to tell them that their website was not working & kept being asked for my account number which I don't have yet. The guy had an Indian accent & could NOT understand the concept of their website not working.

Their frequently asked questions link was not working.

So I called their phone number for web related questions & it has NOTHING to do with web related questions. I asked for a supervisor & got yet another Indian woman who ALSO did NOT understand that their website is NOT working.

Finally, I did a search of the web & found their corporate phone number; 625 Pilot Road - Las Vegas, Nevada. 702 - 269-1000.

I talked to their operator who told me that their website was down & that I could try in a couple of hours. I told her of the problem I had & she asked if I wanted to talk to customer service. I told her, NO, I'd been aggravated enough for one day. She was an American and understood precisely what I had been referring to.

It's impossible to tell a company about problems about their website IF their employees can't UNDERSTAND English.

Credit One Bank SHOULD have Americans answer the phone and not outsource it to English illiterate idiots from India.

Kudos to Portland Mayor Sam Adams for standing up to OWS thugs !!!...

3 cheers to Portland's Mayor for not wussing out nor backing down to the Occupy Wall Street thugs !

Unlike New York's Mayor Bloomberg, who could have nipped the whole " protest " in the bud through peaceful and judicious use of the police to dispel the demonstrators early on, and the Mayor of Oakland who let the " protesters " ( read anarchists ) take over the grounds of City Hall, Mayor Adams won't let his town and his parks be taken over by Acorn's and George Soros' paid thugs.

We've seen where so-called " protesters " have trashed the cities of Seattle and Pittsburgh and it's about time a Mayor stood up for his city and its citizens against the forces of anarchy.

These people have long past the point of being political or economic protesters and are and should be treated for what they are, thugs and criminals.

It's a pity that the puppetmasters behind the scenes like George Soros and Acorn ( under a new name but with the same rotten tree roots ) couldn't be arrested as well.

Police Arrest 30 'Occupy Wall Street' Protesters in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested about 30 anti-Wall Street protesters in Portland early Sunday, dragging and carrying them to waiting vans, after they refused to leave a park in an affluent district.

The arrests came after protesters from the Occupy Portland movement marched to the Pearl District, with some saying they viewed its residents as part of the wealthy demographic they're protesting.

Dozens of them gathered in Jamison Square Saturday evening to defy a midnight curfew to vacate.

As police moved in around 2 a.m. most of the protesters backed off but a core group of 27-30 sat in a circle in the park and awaited arrest.

An Associated Press photographer said most of the protesters went limp and police carried or dragged them away.

There was no violence during the arrests, which took about 90 minutes.

The protesters -- all appearing to be in their 20s and 30s with many were wearing Halloween-style face paint -- were handcuffed before they were place in police vans and driven off.

"We are the 99 percent," one arrestee continued to chant.

The crowd of supporters thinned out around 3:30 a.m. as the last arrests were made.

Police said they arrested more than two dozen people on charges that included criminal trespassing, interfering with a police officer, and disorderly conduct.

The showdown came in the shadow of high-rise condos in the middle of the Pearl District, with some residents watching the events from their balconies.

At a meeting earlier in the evening, about 30 Occupy Portland protesters decided they would intentionally violate the curfew and face arrest.

Shortly after midnight police on horseback, on bicycles and on foot who had been at the perimeter of the park began moving closer to the group of protesters.

The demonstrators who had decided to risk arrest were seated on the ground.

They were encircled by other protesters who walked around them chanting "Whose Park? Our Park!" and "Make No Arrests."

Police eventually pushed the supporters of those being arrested to the park perimeter.

Saturday afternoon, dozens of protesters marched through downtown, across the Willamette River and back, some of them carrying sleeping bags, saying they planned to camp out in the Pearl District park.

Some protesters said they want to camp in the Pearl District because they view its residents as part of the wealthy demographic they're protesting.

Police have allowed the demonstrators to remain in the adjacent Chapman and Lownsdale parks since Oct. 6 despite policies outlawing camping. The parks are surrounded by office buildings, mostly for the government.

But Mayor Sam Adams said last week he would not allow the demonstrators to take over any more parks. In a letter to demonstrators, Commissioner Randy Leonard said it would be inappropriate to expand the demonstration into a neighborhood park.

"We -- the entire city council -- are your friends... at present," Leonard wrote. "However, our friendship and support are now being unreasonably tested by the decision to occupy Jamison Square."

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested about 30 anti-Wall Street protesters in Portland early Sunday, dragging and carrying them to waiting vans, after they refused to leave a park in an affluent district.
The arrests came after protesters from the Occupy Portland movement marched to the Pearl District, with some saying they viewed its residents as part of the wealthy demographic they're protesting.
Dozens of them gathered in Jamison Square Saturday evening to defy a midnight curfew to vacate.

Oct. 30, 2011: A protester is forcibly removed from Jamison Park in Portland, Ore.
PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested about 30 anti-Wall Street protesters in Portland early Sunday, dragging and carrying them to waiting vans, after they refused to leave a park in an affluent district.
The arrests came after protesters from the Occupy Portland movement marched to the Pearl District, with some saying they viewed its residents as part of the wealthy demographic they're protesting.
Dozens of them gathered in Jamison Square Saturday evening to defy a midnight curfew to vacate.

As police moved in around 2 a.m. most of the protesters backed off but a core group of 27-30 sat in a circle in the park and awaited arrest.
An Associated Press photographer said most of the protesters went limp and police carried or dragged them away. There was no violence during the arrests, which took about 90 minutes.
The protesters -- all appearing to be in their 20s and 30s with many were wearing Halloween-style face paint -- were handcuffed before they were place in police vans and driven off.
"We are the 99 percent," one arrestee continued to chant.
The crowd of supporters thinned out around 3:30 a.m. as the last arrests were made.
Police said they arrested more than two dozen people on charges that included criminal trespassing, interfering with a police officer, and disorderly conduct.
The showdown came in the shadow of high-rise condos in the middle of the Pearl District, with some residents watching the events from their balconies.
At a meeting earlier in the evening, about 30 Occupy Portland protesters decided they would intentionally violate the curfew and face arrest.
Shortly after midnight police on horseback, on bicycles and on foot who had been at the perimeter of the park began moving closer to the group of protesters.
The demonstrators who had decided to risk arrest were seated on the ground. They were encircled by other protesters who walked around them chanting "Whose Park? Our Park!" and "Make No Arrests."
Police eventually pushed the supporters of those being arrested to the park perimeter.
Saturday afternoon, dozens of protesters marched through downtown, across the Willamette River and back, some of them carrying sleeping bags, saying they planned to camp out in the Pearl District park.
Some protesters said they want to camp in the Pearl District because they view its residents as part of the wealthy demographic they're protesting.
Police have allowed the demonstrators to remain in the adjacent Chapman and Lownsdale parks since Oct. 6 despite policies outlawing camping. The parks are surrounded by office buildings, mostly for the government.
But Mayor Sam Adams said last week he would not allow the demonstrators to take over any more parks. In a letter to demonstrators, Commissioner Randy Leonard said it would be inappropriate to expand the demonstration into a neighborhood park.
"We -- the entire city council -- are your friends... at present," Leonard wrote. "However, our friendship and support are now being unreasonably tested by the decision to occupy Jamison Square."

" Spontaneous " Wall Street protests that aren't & where da black people ? ...

The so-called " spontenous " protests on Wall Street that the lamestream media is trying to tell us all is " spreading " across the country is anything but sponteneous. In Kansas City, 7, count them 7, people showed up to protest in front of the Federal Reserve bank !

As anyone can see, protesters lying in front of the famous Wall Street bull are using the same signs.

It costs MONEY to print up signs like the ones shown in the right. You just don't print them up on your HP printer. No indication that the pre-printed signs with the Merril Lynch bull logo on them have a union label printed on them.

It takes effort and co-ordination to mount a protest.

The Tea Party spread the word on the internet and on talk shows and by talk show hosts organizing it.

And people who work for a living don't have time to camp out on bridges and on streets without someone funding them. Even a scruffy looking young protester has to eat, don't they ?

There has been commentary that these protesters are predominently young and white.

Well, Fox News has a picture showing 1, count it, one BLACK protester on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Perhaps blacks are out LOOKING for work which is why they don't have the time to protest.

As as we can see in the photos, they're still trying to blame ... George Bush ... for it all.

Bank of America and other banks charging YOU to use YOUR money ! ...

I remember back in the 1970s when the big California banks ( BofA, Wells, Crocker, First Interstate ) told everyone how the brand new ATMs would save the customer and the banks money because the banks wouldn't have to have so many tellers and it would save the banks on costs and they could pass it along to the consumer.

Yet what we've seen since then is banks and credit card companies thinking up new ways to TAKE money out of their customer's pockets.

I am on a limited income. $ 5 is not going to break me. BUT ... Bank of America made a billion dollars PROFIT on their credit card operations last year.

When you deposit money to your account there, they loan the money out and make money on YOUR money !

Does the customer get paid for how many times he or she has to deal with their " customer service " department, which is all too often staffed by clueless idiots, or go into the branch to remove a charge or error in the banks favor ?

NO !

Can we all now charge the banks a $ 500 annual aggravation fee for OUR time ?

I've spent probably literally entire days dealing with this bank and sometimes 3-4 days in a row to straighten out errors that they made to my account including once cashing my rent check TWICE which overdrew my account $ 500.

Once they put my check into a closed account which I used to have. The $ 2,500 check went to that account and they bounced all my checks and I spent days telling all my creditors to resubmit it and to top it off, I had no money for the weekend until they straightened it out.

Citibank wants you to have $ 15,000 in the bank before they won't charge YOU $ 20 a month to have an account there.

How many stockholders of that bank ( as well as BofA ) used to have money before these big banks and their investment crony crooks screwed the whole country with their crooked convertible debt swap schemes ? And how many customers lost money as well ?

I keep wondering why no one on Wall Street or the Congress was ever indicted for their part in dragging down the US & world economy.

IF you have a lot of money in these banks, here's what * I * would do if I were you.

Go to BofA or Wells, or Chase or Citibank and tell them in advance that you are coming in to close your account and that you want it in CASH !

They'll probably tell you they cannot do it for 24 hours but be insistent about it and tell them why you're closing the account.

They're not geared to handle large cash transactions and if a lot of their customers came in and did this to express their displeasure about these new fees it would slow their branch operations down to a crawl.

They also have to order exceess cash from the Fed which charges them a fee for doing so.

I think these new fees are going to backfire on all of the " too big to fail banks " and not only are they going to lose customers but their customers are going to DEMAND that Congress ban the new fees on the use of debit cards.

It's obscene that banks are trying to charge all of us from using OUR money.

When these greedy bastards get through with us, it won't be " what's in your wallet ? " but " what's LEFT in YOUR wallet ! "

My Mother HAD an account with Bank Of America since 1964. She's 94. She also has a credit card with them with a huge credit limit.

But BofA is now charging her $ 16 a month for the use of her credit card whether she uses it or not.

So my Mother went down and closed her account at the bank and asked BofA to close her credit card as well. She said she'd be damned if they'd charge her for NOT using her card.

IF a customer of 47 years standing gets that angry, just think how mad everyone else is going to be about this.

Send the big banks a message that YOU won't take them gouging YOU for using YOUR money !

And tell your Congressman & Senator's that it needs to be stopped.

And as an aside to Tom Sullivan & Rush Limbaugh who think Congress doesn't have the " right " to tell the banks NOT to charge these fees ?

Well, fellows. IF enough of the banks customers tell Congress they don't want these fees, its gonna happen !

You can take THAT to the bank !

Thoughts on the death of Steve Jobs ...

There hasn't been a day that way in the back of my mind I haven't thanked both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak for inventing the Apple Computer. And for Jobs doing what he did to develop the Mac and all the other products that came out of his ideas and his talented staff.

I can remember how it used to be when I would spend HOURS writing out computer programs by hand, typing them into punch cards and having to cart around huge printouts for a simple computer program.

When the Apple I came out I was amazed when I saw it at Homebrew. When the Apple ][ came out, I could type a letter, keep track of my finances, or play a game, not on a tiny orange or green screen but in color.

When the Mac came out, I avoided using one because I was so angry about Job's abandoning the Apple ][ line and the Apple ][ GS in favor of the Mac. It took me years to get around to using one and I wouldn't use one until I got one in color, I'd already dealt with enough green screen programs to last me a lifetime.

But what Jobs and Woz did was freed us from the drudgery of having to know what was IN the personal computer.

On a pc, I had to know what a dll was. How to interact with DOS or Windows and try to get programs that didn't want to work with each other to work.

With an Apple ][ ( I still have 2 Apple ][s, a ][c, ][e, and 2 ][ GS's ) & later with the Mac you didn't HAVE to know a damned thing about how the inside of the computers worked. You turned it on, ran the program, game, utility and went.

And Jobs was never satisifed with what he did yesterday. He was still in hacker mode. He always wanted to tweak the computers and products that he and his workers came up with. Not only to make it work better, but to look better ( it took years for the PC to stop being ugly ) and to give the public what HE thought they could and should use.

I can now play a thousand songs on my Ipod. 25 years or so ago I was dragging around a briefcase of cassette tapes to play music in a Walkman on my hip. Now all that music fits into something less than the size of a dime.

Jobs was not the nicest person in the world, the negative stories about his are legendary.

But he changed how we used computers, phones and listened to music and had fun doing it.

RIP Steve Jobs and thanks for giving us all the chance to use the products you saw in your mind.

I think that Apple's going to be just fine and that there are probably other visionairies working there who will create stuff that will ahve the spirit of innovation that Jobs had. Jobs didn't do it alone, he had help and had talented people to help him do it.

For those of you who still listen to Coast To Coast, sadly a shadow of its former self, Art is back in Nevada and is hinting that he may come back to radio. There have been ham broadcasts talking about that.
On July 20, 2011, Art Bell announced via his Facebook page that he had relocated with his family to Pahrump, Nevada. Subsequent posts indicate Art and his family initially focusing on resettling his house and making it "fit for human habitation" again, giving no indication about his radio plans, if any (beyond maintaining his HAM activity). However, on July 30, Bell posted the following: "There is so much to do and only so many hours in the day. There are things going on in the background that I will talk about at the proper time. The move was a big one and we need time to adjust."
On August 19, 2011 Art Bell announced via Facebook "Phrase for the day......Stay tuned!", followed on August 31 by the message "Sorry for so few posts but we are working on this house every day like dogs, much more soon." Some Bell fans have speculated that the phrase "stay tuned" may indicate Art's return to broadcasting in some form, though as of September 11th, 2011 there has been nothing further to support or deny that claim.

President Snorlax speaks again, market crashes ... again !

Once again, O'buma gave one of those stirring speeches which are increasingly the verbal equivalent of watching paint dry.

His mantra-like " pass this bill " was repeated 18 times as if he thought that if it were repeated enough it would stun the members of Congress and make them his devoted slaves and instantly pass his joke... err, jobs bill.

NO mention of entitilement reform, NO mention of the FACT that infrastructure is one of the least things that worry businesses.

And NO mention of how he expects to pay for it, except to once again tax the rich.

As the opinion piece by Jim Cramer says below, this speech really means nothing.

The government can't create jobs except in the short term. Only private employers can.

You sure don't want a rip into this speech.

Remember, this is an ideological president who actually does think he is friendly to business, so you end up with something that's usually pretty disappointing as Doug Kass says in a post earlier this morning.

But I don't mind.
These speeches are like NFL games.

First, so little money goes on the over that it entices the under and then we are back again as people realize he's simply unable to break out from his community organizer/pro-labor role and really doesn't understand the capital formation process.

Plus, he is trapped by an anti-fossil fuel bias that, again, is ideological and therefore he can't help the one industry that wants to hire but needs government guarantees to hire fast enough.

Don't forget this is the president who failed at creating infrastructure jobs before.

I don't see why he should get it right these days.

So we have to go in with the lowest of expectations and the market's certainly giving you that.

Oftimes you meet or talk to people about subjects that you NEVER expected to talk about to or have brought up.

I was ordering something from a mail order company in Wisconsin and while were discussing an Ipod clock radio, somehow the subject of Macs and gaming came up and we got into a discussion of gaming when the nice lady I was talking to said that Gary Gygax was her uncle !

I spent hundreds of hours playing D & D and A D & D and when both of these men passed on, I was too sick to mention their passing.

My girlfriend could never understand my interest ( and the gamers who met for 5 years to play A D & D and SPI wargames, but it was a guy thing for us old grognards.

Thanks for Gygax and Arneson and I was very sorry to hear how both of them got screwed over by their partners.

They gave thousands of guys like me a way to pass the time & led to my having and meeting some lifetime friends.

A proposal for dealing with the homeless AND boarded up foreclosures ...

I was speaking to my long time liberal friend Paul the other day on the phone about the economy and the foreclosure crisis the other day and a sudden idea came to me.

Why not make an attempt to cure some of the urban blight caused by multiple foreclosures that are blighting entire streets and neighborhoods across the US AND the problem of the homeless at the same time ?

Many of the homeless are homeless due to eviction, job loss, illness, etc. and frequently become homeless through no fault of their own.

I became homeless once because my landlord wanted to remodel the entire apartment complex and threw all the tenants out in 33 apartments with only 30 days notice and with NO compensation.

We see entire neighborhoods that have their property values dragged down by hundreds if not thousands of boarded up foreclosed homes.

Many of these are trashed by the previous owners or by squatters and frequently get burned out by the homeless who live in them.

In many areas of the country, banks are supposed to hire security guards to watch vacant properties but frequently do not.

So ... my idea is why not have banks, governments and homeless agencies get together and give small loans ( $ 5,000-10,000 ) dollars to rehabilitate these homes & then have homeless people LIVE in them until such time as the housing market recovers.

Many homeless people have children and pets and could be paid a small stipend in addition to being caretakers for these homes. Having a stable home could also allow many of the homeless to find jobs and perhaps even an opportunity to PURCHASE the homes from the banks that they are watching over.

While many homeless have drug, alcohol or mental issues, there are many who do not and who would love to have a home and if paid to watch over them would treat them like their own homes.

This would rehabilitate foreclosed homes, make neighborhoods less subject to squatters and drug dealers and would also serve to reduce crime and raise property values as the homes would be occupied.

Homeless organizations could easily screen suitable caretakers and it would go a long way to give people who are homeless a new chance for a new life.

In some cities in Ohio and Detroit, foreclosed homes are going for as little as $ 400 and loans have been made in Ohio for $ 5-7000 to allow artists and others to live in and eventually BUY those formerly trashed and unoccupied homes.

It might not work, but it surely would be worth a tryout, wouldn't it ?

If one didn't know better, one could imagine that the pictures above and below were scenes of bombed-out buildings from the Blitz in Great Britain in WW2 .

But one would be very wrong as once again, the powers of anarchistic behavior racked the streets of London & San Francisco.

In England, mobs who were protesting government cuts in social services, while in San Francisco, protesters were protesting the local subway transit agency for shutting off cell phone service underground and for the killing by transit cops of a homeless man.

The mobs in England said they were " getting their taxes back " while destroying local shops that they claim were owned by rich and " greedy " companies.

A reporter who asked them why they were rioting lamented that they were destroying HIS neighborhood, where HE lived.

We've seen this kind of behavior in THIS country, where wild eyed Leftist radicals have burned out businesses, broken windshields and done damage to property to protest economic conferences in Pittsburgh, Seattle and to protest the shooting of a BART passenger by a cop who thought he was reaching for his taser instead of his gun. ( Which happened in another case back East as well. Although I can't understand why you can't FEEL the difference in your hand between a taser and a gun. ).

The protesters here have used their rage as an excuse to loot as well.

On Monday, I had a medical appointment to go to in San Francisco. I did not know that the hacker group, anonymous, had organized a protest for 5 pm that day. The ride over was uneventful, but as I got off the bus at Union Square and walked down to Market Street at Stockton to go to the Apple Store I noticed that the sidewalks leading past Macy's and down to Market were almost empty.

After I was finished in the Apple Store, I saw the sidewalks leading to the Powell Street Bart station and away from it to 3rd Street were almost empty too. You could have literally counted the people who were walking. Normally the sidewalks and intersections are filled with people.

As I got to the Montgomery Street Bart Station I saw there were no throngs of people going INTO BART. NO well dressed women, no men in business suits with bags. I went into BART and down to the platform to go home to the East Bay and saw only 1 small line of people waiting for the train. Normally the platforms are packed. As my train arrived, I went in and sat in the handicapped seats and looked around and saw more empty seats than passengers. The two attached cars were also empty.

When we left the station, the pa system announced that the Civic Center station was closed due to a civil disturbance. Only departing passengers would be allowed to off board.

As we went through the trans bay tunnel and got to Oakland, it was announced that the Powell Street station was closed for the same reason. It was like listening to the equivalent of a virus outbreak you see in a contagion film. Then they announced that Montgomery Station was closed. Then Embarcadero Station was closed as well.

One of the pictures above shows the gates of Powell Street station being closed and protesters going down the escalators into BART. Another shows the police blocking access ( or trying to ) to the escalators that lead down to the station.

As I got to my destination in Concord, they announced that Civic Center station had re-opened.

Once I got home, I saw on the news what effect the protesters had on the BART system and people. Thousands stayed away from using BART. Many could not either get home or would miss their connections to get home. One woman said she lived in Fairfield and now could not get home due to the protesters disrupting her transit connection. A black woman said that she and her children could not get home to Oakland so she could make dinner.

So we have leftist protesters protesting for civil rights while denying the civil rights of thousands.

The right of the citizenry to simply go home.

The rights of businessmen to make a living.

The rights of the disabled to use BART and travel throughout the system to their connections.

I was very lucky as I must have been on one of the last trains to leave Montgomery Street station.

Leftists always decry that THEIR civil rights are being violated or that they CARE about the civil rights of others.

Yet they show no compassion nor concern when THEY violate the RIGHT of travel and association of others and disrupt a transit system and inconvenience thousands of riders.

135 or so years ago we had draft riots in New York City. Armed troops SHOT the rioters as they torched buildings, disrupted businesses and disrupted an entire city.

In 1970, in the UK, the government sought to hang those who burned down their equivalent of a huge farmer's market during rioting there.

But during the rioting in the UK recently, police and fire officials were debating whether to use water cannons on the crowd.

Instead they stood impotent and could do nothing to stop the destruction.

San Francisco is constantly plagued by these kinds of " demonstrations " where they protest one thing or another. Frequently it leads to civil disobedience and property destruction.

Have you ever notice that the same people kept showing up at the same demonstrations for years, while other people went to work or shopped and acted in a civil manner and who DIDN'T disrupt the streets, buildings or other people ?

Presumably few of these types go to work for a living unless they're PAID Leftist agitators from the many activist groups in the Bay Area that pay people to work for social activism and " change ".

Presumably some of these "protesters " are the children of the aging Leftists of the SF Bay area as well..

I once saw it first hand as protesters on the grounds of San Francisco State University went into the library and trashed the shelves of books, records, papers and other scholarly material. They destroyed thousands of dollars of books and wrecked equipment. The next day I was accidentally beaten ( not severely and got an apology and treatment for it ) by the SF Police Tac Squad as they attempted to stop the rioters ( which is what they were at this point ) from doing further damage to the library. I had gone to the library to volunteer to help re-shelve books & do what I could to clean up the mess. The police had thought I was one of the rioters as I had the misfortune to be leaving the library as new rioting started.

The SFPD was condemned at the time by some in San Francisco for their actions to protect property as was the President of the university, S.I. Hayakawa, who was determined NOT to see his university destroyed by activists rioters. To some he was an authoritarian who denied the " rights " of students, to many, including me, he was a hero for standing up to those who sought to destroy.

The SFPD & the LAPD over the years have been criticized by many for their actions, in some cases with justification.

But when the chips are down their men and women go out and fight the forces of anarchy who have nothing but contempt for them and all of those who may disagree with them.

And take the risk of being injured or killed for their defending the RIGHTS of the citizens as a whole to conduct their activities without being disrupted by those who really DENY those rights.

They don't do it for medals or awards or public acclaim, but because they do it because it's the RIGHT thing to do as ALL citizens should applaud and which many sadly do not.

( I take a moment to say hello to former Mayor and SFPD Chief Frank Jordan, a good man with a tough job. ).

Arrests/Injuries & Hayakawa Press Conference

Scenes from SF State College of arrests and badly injured protesters being put into stretchers and carried away by riot police, followed by a press conference at the Press Club of San Francisco, in which President S.I. Hayakawa introduces his new policies on dealing with campus unrest, exclaiming: I hate to do this but listen, this campus has been in disorder for so damn long and someone has to decide where the thing stops! He is also interviewed the next day by KPIXs Belva Davis about his administrative strategy and admits he hasn't met with members of the BSU since being appointed as President. ( The Mac I'm using now won't allow me to show the video. but it's out there on google. )

These kinds of things used to be exceptions promulgated by activists.

Now it seems to be the norm & can happen any time as shown in this post from police magazine on line.

The "Hollywood Riot" started with DJ Kaskade's Twitter message inviting people to an impromptu block party at the Hollywood premiere of the Electric Daisy Carnival documentary.

In response to the Twitter announcement, 2,000 young people showed up — many expected a free movie premier they later learned could only be attended by ticketed invitation.

Soon, the overflow crowd of 2,000 took over the sidewalks and street of Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic was effectively blocked and the chaotic crowd forced the cancelation of the movie premiere.

The LAPD's marked units began arriving amid the chaos.

At that point, the aimless crowd was transforming into a mindless mob. Soon, LAPD officers set up a skirmish line in the street and faced off with the mob. Officers were soon joined by additional LAPD units.

Much of the "action" was captured via YouTube videos from the street, air, and other angles.

The footage and pictures showed a highly trained, prepared, equipped, organized, and professional LAPD response.

Amid repeated public address orders to clear the street and disperse, LAPD reinforcements continued arriving, including D Platoon SWAT officers who were fully geared and helmeted up. Several carried less-lethal 37mm or 40mm single- or multi-round launchers.

I'm an avid proponent of plugging SWAT into any riot control situation, particularly those involving potential or actual violence. SWAT not only enhances police capability and confidence; tactical officers bring a chilling effect to crowds. A show of force usually dissuades all but the most ardent to cease and desist their unruly actions.

Predictably, some in the mob tried unsuccessfully to take on the LAPD, who ultimately succeeded in clearing the street of trouble makers.

Bottles started to fly at the officers who, after several marked units were damaged, deployed less-lethal munitions and began arresting people.

The LAPD was able to successfully disperse the 2,000-person mob without it turning into an all-out riot. In its wake, the "block party" left the street littered with debris; the movie premiere was canceled; and the Los Angeles DJ apologized.

No doubt, the revelers are looking forward to the next impromptu Twitter invitation. There's no doubt LAPD and SWAT will be there to greet them again.

The "Hollywood Riot" is the second near-riot incident this July in California.

On July 16, a controversial police shooting in San Francisco's Bayview district immediately degenerated into a swirling, chaotic anti-police mob.

The SFPD tactical squad also responded fully geared up with their Armored Rescue Vehicle (ARV) at the ready.

Just as I'm certain LAPD SWAT's presence chilled many from violence, I have no doubt the sight of SFPD's SWAT had a similar chilling effect on the angry, hostile, anti-police mob.

I'm a firm believer that SWAT needs to be called out for all riots if and when there'ss violence aimed at police that may involve firearms.

This is exactly what LAPD and SFPD did, requesting SWAT assistance that undoubtedly helped prevent rioting, violence and casualties.

Both LAPD and SFPD are highly professional police departments with outstanding SWAT units that have a wealth of riot control experience.

Their professionalism and experience prevented two volatile situations from erupting into something far worse.

This is a valuable lesson that all LE agencies can, and should, learn from.

SWAT was originally created to diffuse incidents of extraordinary violence and danger, beyond the capabilities of police.

This SWAT mission remains just as valid today more than 40 years later.

What many may not know or remember is the original reasons why LAPD formed its vaunted SWAT unit.

The better-remembered, deadly University of Texas tower sniper, and the lesser-remembered 1965 Los Angeles Watts Riots of 1965.

LAPD's SWAT was born during the "riot era" of the 1960s.

Some things never change, which the LAPD's SWAT response to the "Hollywood Riot" illustrates.

I don't know what the solution is to these kinds of violent protests, but it is clear that authorities need to do more than stand around and do nothing while the mob runs rampant and engages in destruction.

Kudos to the men and women of the SFPD & LAPD for doing their jobs and keeping incidents from degenerating into riot and complete chaos both now and way back in 1968.

Perhaps the London authorities need to be less permissive and more proactive and stop mollycoddling rioters who feel they have a " civil right " to destroy.

We knew that rioters had torn through England's streets, willfully torching everything they could.

But this shocking photograph shows the true cost of the thugs' actions.

These are the faces of those whose lives have been left in tatters since thugs rampaged through London Road, in Croyon.

The row of homes and independent shops look like they could have been injuries of the blitz, as they have been left as mere shells of their former selves, teetering on the brink of collapse.

These are the human faces behind the havoc wreaked on London Road, Croydon, after rioters ransacked the street

1. Lynn Roberts
The solicitor 40, narrowly escaped the baying mob who started attacking her office.
The business was set on fire and all of the solicitor's case notes were destroyed, while the man who lived above the business has been left homeless.
Ms Roberts said people were being assaulted in the street, forcing her and her colleagues to flee through the back door of the property, which has now been condemned.

2. Binu Matthew and Lisy George

Van owner Mr Matthew, 40, and his wife Mrs George, 37, a nurse, were attacked so thugs could steal their van.
Mrs George was stripped of her uniform and left half-naked as the looters grabbed their £1,000 takings from their shop.
She described how one woman punch Mr Matthew and screamed that they should burn.

3. Nawaz Phansopkar

The pharmacist, 43, and his family nearly died after thugs torched a grocer's that they lived above.
He said: 'We came too close to dying. We could see smoke but people were bing robbed in the street so we were trapped.'
He and his wife Hayatbi, 40, and their children Nabila, 9, Nazmeen, 14, Hiba, 17 and Heena, 20, eventually fled to a friend's house, but now they have been left homeless and have nothing but the clothes they escaped in.

4. Zaheer Ahmed and Mumtaz Hassan

Landlord Mr Ahmed, 52, watched from across the road as flames ripped through his three-storey building, worth £500,000.
The blaze was so dangerous he described how firefighters could not even attempt to tackle the inferno until an hour after they arrived.
Mr Hassan, 48, whose Crystal Clean launderette was housed inside Mr Ahmed's property, says his entire livelihood has been wiped out.

5. Eddie and Teddy Marley

Shopkeepers Mr Marley, 85, and his wife, 88, ran a motorcycle business for 33 years but watched it go up in smoke last Monday as rioters demolished everything in their path.
Mrs Marley told the Daily Mirror that she and her husband were helpless as looters helped themselves to helmets and anything else they could grab.
She said even in World War II they had never witnessed so much destruction and their dream of retiring next year has been destroyed as they have nothing left.
Mrs Marley said: 'When I went to see what was left I just stood there and cried.'

6. Marianne Simons

Hairdresser Marianne Simons, 36, says thugs were so intent on taking whatever they could, they even stole her hair extensions supply.
The entrepreneur said she will have to close her business for six months and she and her six staff will now have to cope without an income.
She estimates it will cost £6,000 to repair her hairdressing shop.

Violence flared as rioters tore through the streets, smashing their way into shops and grabbing anything they could, while terrified shopkeepers were attacked if they dared to try and protect their livelihoods.

Innocent members of the public were beaten in the street if they dared get in the way of the anarchic mob and residents compared the scene in Croydon to the blitz as a double-decker bus and several cars were also torched in the road.

As the looters torched the buildings, homeowners and business people could only watch in despair as the flames engulfed the buildings, leaving scorched remains as the only reminder of their livelihoods and possessions.

But London Road was not the only part of Croydon to be torched.

One of the area's most historic buildings, the Reeves Furniture Store, was destroyed on Monday.

A 33-year-old man has today been charged with starting a fire which destroyed the building, which has survived both World Wars and is more than 140-years-old.

Gordon Edward Thompson of Waddon Road, Croydon, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life, arson at the furniture store, two counts of burglary and one count of violent disorder, Scotland Yard said.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

Scorched: Homes and businesses were left as piles of smouldering rubble

But there may be some hope for small businesses.

Those who suffered as a result of last week's riots and looting will be able to take out loans from a £10 million fund set up by a major bank.

RBS is offering interest and fee-free loans of up to £25,000 to directly-affected businesses across the country.

The relief fund is designed to give the banking giant's customers short-term assistance to get back on their feet and resume trading while they wait for financial support from the Government or insurers.

After six months, the businesses should either repay the loans from the payouts or transfer to other loan products offered by the bank.

Chris Sullivan, chief executive of RBS and NatWest corporate division, said: 'We want to do everything we can for businesses affected by the riots.

'These loans will help firms waiting for insurance payments or needing urgent repairs to open for business as soon as possible.

'I hope that other banks will also be able to help small businesses recover. Our high streets are vital for local communities and the economic recovery.'

Independent music we lost in the fire

Some 165 independent music labels are struggling to restock after rioters burned a London warehouse to the ground last week – but back-catalogue gems are feared lost forever.

IN THE MIDST of last week’s rioting in the UK, plenty of things were destroyed.

But along with the British media asking questions of its society, and victims of looting, criminal damage and arson surveying the damage, the independent music industry was thrown into turmoil, as a Sony DADC warehouse, used by Pias – a large marketing, sales and distributor of stock for independent labels – was burned to the ground in London.

With it, millions of CDs went up in flames, entire back-catalogues of labels were destroyed, and right now, around 165 labels are still working flat-out to pick up the pieces.

In terms of profile, distributors aren’t exactly up there with glitzy labels or artists, but just because Pias mightn’t ring any bells with average music fans, doesn’t mean that its role isn’t hugely important.

Pias used the three-storey Sony DANC warehouse as a distribution hub for its marketing and distribution operation.
Independent labels stored their latest releases for the UK and Ireland, and also their back-catalogues.
Everything that any label had stored there was lost.

The only thing that survived were 20 Quasi albums, an indie rock band from Oregon signed to Domino in Europe.

Record Of The Day , a music industry newsletter, estimated that up to 25 million units of stock were destroyed;
CDs, records, and also DVDs as part of Pias smaller film distribution arm.

Labels that lost stock include Matador (Interpol, Sonic Youth), Warp (Aphex Twin, Grizzly Bear, Maximo Park), 4AD (Bon Iver, The National), Rough Trade (Jarvis Cocker, Antony and the Johnsons, Morrissey, The Strokes), Young Turks (The xx), Domino (Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Wild Beasts), Wall of Sound (Grace Jones, The Human League), Drowned In Sound (Kaiser Chiefs, Bat For Lashes), XL (Radiohead, M.I.A. Sigur Ros, Adele), Sub Pop (Beach House, Foals, CSS – the list goes on.

It’s hard to comprehend the impact given the number of artists involved, but the destruction means CDs and vinyl records simply won’t be there to restock record stores.

Most of the Arctic Monkeys’ new single, The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala was wiped out, forcing Domino to sell it online only.

When the statements from record labels started to filter through, it became clear how bad things were.

All of Warp’s UK stock was destroyed.
Some labels had stock waiting to be shipped to international markets which was also destroyed.

Thrill Jockey’s entire stock, including a back-catalogue of 280 titles was destroyed – worth an estimated €200,000.

Beggar’s Group (an umbrella group for seven labels) saw 750,000 of their CDs go up in flames.

Martin Mills, chairman of Beggar’s Group, estimates it will take three months to manufacture and replace the burnt vinyl stock.

In Ireland, Rubyworks and its subsidiary Model Citizen had 10,000 CDs destroyed.

Irish bands on other labels affected include The Divine Comedy, Villagers, and Two Door Cinema Club.

Luckily for Rubyworks, its latest release, a live album from Rodrigo Y Gabriela, had shipped to shops one week before the fire.

“It’s one of those catastrophic things that you’ll never imagine will happen to you,” according to Rubyworks and Model Citizen label manager Roger Quail.

“I’ve been in the business for 30 years and nothing like this has ever happened – the wholesale destruction of stock is unheard of,” Quail says, adding that he and his colleagues are “trying to focus on the positives”.
He says labels such as Warp will now face tough decisions over whether to repress back-catalogues, or consign the physical copies to history.

There is an additional problem now with the turn-around times for pressing CDs and vinyl, given the pressure suppliers are now under.

An order that would normally take 10 days will now take a month, and those times will get longer, according to Quail.

“We’re coming into a very busy time, where people are pressing up Coldplay records for the autumn and so on, so resources are limited.”

Over the next 24 hours, Pias, which has been widely praised for reacting to the calamity so quickly, hopes to have a new warehouse as a destination for stock. Meanwhile, the big problem facing independent labels on the smaller end of the scale is cash flow.

How do you survive while you’re waiting for insurance to come through and when you have no stock to sell?
Pias and Aim (Association of Independent Music) have established a contingency fund that smaller labels can draw from in order to keep afloat, which should help them replace stock and keep functioning in the short term.

As for the consumer, apart from delayed stocking times, music fans looking for certain back-catalogue gems might never find them again.

Perhaps the parents of those who engage in this kind of activity needed to be more proactive in teaching their children the value of proper behavior in society as well.

There was an old song that said " you can't always get what you want ".

Protesters and the crazed out there have never learned nor understood that. Neither apparently did their permissive parents who didn't understand how to tell their children the word " NO ! "

Michelle Bachmann and her migraines. A suggestion.

I was watching a news report where the pundits were making a big deal about Michelle Bachmann and her stress related migraines and it occurred to me at she might well consider seeing an ear/nose/throat doctor.

I had excruciating and debilitating migraines for years. The pain was so bad at times I had to go to the emergency room on multiple occasions for help.

I had a sinus infection for 2 years. I had sinus surgery a year ago. After the sinus surgery, my migraines are almost gone. I still get headaches from time to time ( mostly heat headaches because it's so hot now ), but I've only had 1 or 2 migraines.

It may have nothing to do with her sinuses but I've talked to multiple people who have had sinusitis and sinus problems and many of them get horrible sinus headaches as well.

If anyone knows the Congresswoman, please pass this suggestion along to her.

The Week had this to say about Michelle Bachmann and her migraines. I do wonder if saying that primarily WOMEN have migraines isn't a sexist statement in and of itself. I've known men who have migraines, though it seems to be rare.

With her meteoric rise in the GOP presidential polls, the spotlight continues to shine on all facets of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn). On Tuesday, a story at The Daily Caller harshly illuminates the presidential hopeful's supposed migraine problem. "The Minnesota Republican frequently suffers from stress-induced medical episodes that she has characterized as severe headaches," writes Jonathan Strong. "To staff, Bachmann has implausibly blamed the headaches on uncomfortable high-heel shoes, but those who have worked closely with her cite stress, a busy schedule, and anything going badly for Bachmann as causes." The article quotes both anonymous and named former staffers, and notes that the congresswoman takes a "significant amount of medication" to manage her "debilitating headache episodes." Is this a sexist smear?

No. Migraines could affect her ability to govern: "If Bachmann really does have debilitating migraines that put her out of commission for days at a time, that's relevant, gender-neutral information," says Jessica Grose at Slate. While I can understand why some commentators might think this is biased, it really isn't. Let's remember the uproar over John McCain's health in 2008. "It's possible that the Caller article was just a bunch of disaffected former Bachmann cronies dissing their former boss," but it's also possible that this is information that voters need to know.
"Reporting on Michele Bachmann's migraines isn't sexist"

But there's a sexist implication here: There might be some sexism here if you read between the lines, says Noreen Malone at New York. "Migraines happen to be overwhelmingly a woman's problem, and (though Bachmann's are supposedly stress-triggered), they are often linked to both menstruation and menopause — unavoidable biological side effects of being a woman." While the story might have been the same for one of the male candidates, given the nature of migraines, it's hard not to see this "as a reminder of the cave-man argument from way back against women holding office — that they might be undone by their hormones in moments of great stress."
"Is the Daily Caller's Michele Bachmann migraine story sexist?"

Besides, you can have migraines and be president: I'm anything but a Bachmann fan, but this migraine story "is deeply ignorant and unfair," says Dana Goldstein, a contributor to The Nation and The Daily Beast, at her site. Migraines are often discussed in a sexist manner, "with the implication being that women who suffer from migraines can't handle normal levels of stress." Of course, a number of factors can trigger migraines, and many sufferers are able to manage the condition and lead productive lives. Thomas Jefferson and Ulysses Grant both had migraines, while Kennedy and FDR had chronic medical problems and "popped pills." There are plenty of reasons Bachmann shouldn't be president. Let's talk about them, not her migraines.

Thank God for sanity in eating !

Kudos for restaurant owner Mike Vuick for having the courage to stand up to irresponsible parents & ban kids under 6 because his CUSTOMERS complained about the noise being made by kids who think a restaurant is a playground or a place where you can scream as loud as you want, while the parents of the little monsters sit there and do nothing to stop the kid from being disruptive !

My girlfriend and I have gone to dozens of restaurants and had our meals ruined by children running around, playing tag, screaming, throwing tantrums and generally ruining our dining experience.

If you DARE to say anything about it to the parents, they get belligerent and say how dare WE tell THEM how to raise their kids.

If you DARE to say anything to the restaurant MANAGER about the noise, you'll usually get a reply to the effect that " this is a FAMILY restaurant " and nothing will be done about the disruptive child.

I commend the owner of McDain's for finally doing what probably millions of people have WANTED to for years ! Which is to say NO to the tyranny of those who do not tell their children how to behave in public. Either that or they don't give a damn how and if anyone else is disturbed by how their little " darlings " behave.

If either of us had done what we've seen some children do, our backsides would have been sore for a week. Of course, we were raised during a time when Child Protective Services didn't have their octopus-like fingers into every element of parenting.

My sister didn't raise her children to act like that and neither have her children who now have kids of their own. They're well behaved and very bright as well.

Sadly, I'm not in Monroeville, but when I go back to Pittsburgh next year, I will make a point to eat at McDain's and say hi.

Despite our spending billions to pay for these clowns, the TSA has done it again !

They let a Nigerian with multiple fake boarding passes & NO passport and an expired student id get through their security, board a plane & fly coast to coast with no one being the wiser.

And Virgin Airlines didn't check him either.

Isn't it time we abolish this agency filled with incompetent clowns ?

Good job, TSA & Virgin for keeping our skies safe from potential terrorists and allowing just anyone to get on a plane !

NOT !

And Homeland Insecurity wants us all to abide by the Real ID Act in 2013 ?

Like that's really going to work out too.

I won't be able to fly without a passport nor get into a Federal building without a passport as an American citizen who PAID for the building, but some Nigerian can fly all over the place with no valid id at all and nothing is done about it ?

WTF ?

Bet they'd have caught him if he'd been wearing a diaper !

WHY can't Lexmark just send me a cd with the drivers for my printer ? ...

I just bought a new Lexmark printer so I could scan & fax.

But despite wasting hours with their customer service department, I still can't use it.

WHY ?

Because the printer won't print right.

Their customer service people tried to send the updated drivers ( this for a printer that I bought last Saturday ) so I could print without white bars across the color pictures I printed.

I shouldn't have to go through this.

Every software update that I get online for my Imacs, Ibooks, etc. works fine. Even on older Imacs like my Snow Ibook which I'm using now because my Imac is in the shop.

Yet when you try to download new drivers from Lexmark, it NEVER works.

I bought one of their printers a year ago and had the same problem despite them sending me 3 print heads. The printer still wouldn't print & kept jamming.

I finally said the hell with it and took it back to the store and got my money back.

This new printer is the Interpret 405 model.

I called Lexmark today and ASKED them if they couldn't just send me a cd with the drivers on it so that I could use my printer since its the speed of my Mac that is the problem. They said that all driver updates have to be gotten off their website.

I still have and use older Lexmark printers that came WITH CDs in the box.

Would it really be that much effort for them to send me a CD ?

I've got a couple of hundred blank CD-R discs in here. I'd even pay the postage both ways to have the drivers.

But I guess it would be too much for them to do.

Oh, yes. One more thing.

Their customer service people are all based in the Philippines.

In this economy, shouldn't they have their support phone lines and people in THIS country and hire Americans to provide support ?

I think so.

I'm going to see if I can take the printer to a Mac store and download the drivers from there.

So much for going all out to HELP the customer.

There's been much talk on line about Congressman Joe Miller's poker bill.

Yet one thing no one ever seems to address is WHY none of the people proposing poker legislation, simply don't write a bill to scrap the onerous UIGEA in the first place which started all of this poker mess ALL poker players find themselves in.

This law was stuck into the Port Security Act and enacted in the dead of night when much of Congress was away. Like so many laws we have seen recently enacted, the American people had no input into it nor did Congressmen & Senators have the opportunity to oppose it nor comment on it.

That law should be repealed. Our government should not be involved in telling citizens what to do with their money which has already been taxed to death & which those citizens choose to spend on their own.

The Federal government should not be telling us what to do in the privacy of our homes when we play poker on a legal basis. I am NOT referring to children playing poker, but adults.

Adults who work. Adults who vote. And many adults who have far more sense than many members of Congress who have forgotten that they are there to serve US not the other way around.

About a week ago I got a letter from this company based in Georgia.

They were offering me an unsecured loan for an amount from $ 2,300 to $ 3,500. They sent me a letter that they " value my proven financial responsibility " & that this loan that wasn't was based on their reviewing my credit.

My credit was very damaged from when I became severely ill & was bedridden for 2 years & was too sick to do anything but be sick.

I have been slowly re-establishing my credit, have multiple sources of credit accounts and a new credit card. I have been paying all my bills on time and like I did with my Shell card, I've not been late with my payments and have a good payment history.

When I got their " pre-qualified " offer, I thought to myself, ok. I'll get a loan from them & pay off all my credit accounts and have only 1 monthly payment of $ 221.90. I could also pay 2 month's rent and utility bills, stock up with food for awhile & go buy an Ipad 2 to use in designing my website, paying my webmaster to get up and running & make some real money.

So I went out in 95 degree heat, went to the DMV to get new ID, Social Security to get proof of my income, the bank to get my bank statement and WASTED a whole day in doing so.

I even called them up and told them of my income & their people on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem to get a loan.

I then faxed everything to them only to find out that I don't make enough to get a loan from them !

I don't get companies like this ! Why even send me the damned letter in the first place if they have such stringent income requirements !

If they were to CHECK with my creditors they'd find I pay my bills on time & have even paid off what I owe as I did with 2 credit accounts this week & next month will have paid off 2 more leaving me with only 4 obligations other than rent, phone and electricity.

I got 3 " pre-approved " offers from Citibank ( who owned my Shell card & canceled it because of their new and unfair policy that if you have ANY poor credit, they cancel your card, even it the credit with them is ok ) in the same week & they denied me as well. I only sent in one of those.

I had called Citibank & told them that I had been promised a new Shell card in 9 months after they closed my account ( with a perfect payment record over 3 years ).

Frankly, Citibank lied to me & I've told them so & don't appreciate it.

Once my websites are up and running by the end of the year I should be making money on them. It's a crap shoot, of course. I might spend money and not make a dime.

I've even come up with a new idea for a dating website, because the ones I've seen are terrible & don't gear themselves to the needs of guys. There are a lot of lovesick women out there who are all looking for soul mates or marriage while guys just want to meet someone for fun, dating or just good old sex.

This is not the first one of these offers I've received. But I've read where there are microbanks & microcredit where they loan money to the poor to start businesses and get credit.

No one does that in this country and operators of these " pre-approved " loan places like Quick Click aren't willing apparently to take a chance and help someone who PAYS his obligations on time NOW.

There ought to be a law against this sort of stuff or at least a requirement clearly stated that this much income is what we need to give YOU a loan.

I spent time, money, gas and sweat to fax these scam artists paperwork for a loan they fully KNEW they weren't going to give me in the first place.

I'm going to see what my Congressman thinks about this sort of thing and see if I can send enough stuff around to get these bs " pre-qualified " offers stopped by law.

Aside from getting someone's hopes up, it's a terrible thing to do by leading people on like they do.

They should be ashamed of themselves, assuming of course, that they know what the concept is, which they probably don't.

People on lower incomes trying to establish credit and pay their bills on time are precisely the kinds of people that could use a loan to help establish that credit. NOT rich people who declare bankruptcy or people who have too many credit cards and wipe it all out while leaving the creditors holding the bag.

If you're not rich or a fat cat, stay away from QUICK CLICK LOANS !!!!

Dick Morris is being a real dick about Sarah Palin ...

Dick Morris has put out a piece saying that Sarah Palin and her bus tour is doing a DISSERVICE to the Republican Party by taking away attention from those Republicans who are running for President.

Morris couldn't be more wrong.

Palin, Bachmann and to a lesser extent Herman Cain are energizing the Conservatives in our party.

MY party needs MORE Sarah Palin, not less.

She drives the liberals nuts as well as the lamestream media.

She & Bachmann wakes up the braindead business-as-usual RINOs who are forced to react to her & not try to spew their usual BORING agenda that has lead us to defeat in 2 elections.

The Conservatives in our party are TIRED of our party picking retreads who cannot beat Obama. We don't need Beltway cocktail circuit Republicans who want to be conciliatory to the Demo rats, we need someone who will take it to Obama and will show him to be the incompetent know nothing about economics & foreign policy that he is.

We NEED a scrapper and a fighter, not another McCain who wouldn't confront Obama on the issues or an addlepated Bob Dole.

I realize that Mr. Morris is a late comer to Republicanism and Conservatism after being a Demo rat for years, so he may not know any better.

But this is not the time to be attacking Sarah Palin.

Mr. Morris should be using his efforts to attack the enemies of our party, the do-nothing, no budget, no deficit cuts, Demo ratic obstructionists in Congress and their glorious leader, Paddy O'Bama the clown in chief.

Mr. Morris, leave Sarah Palin alone !!!
